ABOUT

 FARM CHICKS VINTAGE

How it all started

Three years ago, I had returned to South Carolina after spending a couple of years in my home state of Louisiana and was trying to decide what to do to make a living. Since art and creative pursuits have always been a big part of my life I decided to go with what comes easiest for me and began collecting interesting vintage items. Furniture to rehab and paint, decorative items to accentuate the furniture. I rented a small booth in a local vendor mall and began my adventure.

New friends and opportunities

After several months, I was doing pretty well selling my treasures and decided to add another booth closer to my home. It was at this location that I met Amy. She, too, was trying to find a way to make a little money using her creativity. She had a small space selling jewelry her mother in law made and jewelry stands she made from old garden rakes.

Forming partnerships

As both of our businesses began to grow, Amy suggested that we team up on a booth in another nearby town which actually turned into booths in TWO nearby towns! One in a vendor mall and one in a Coffee House.  We were driving all over the Carolinas searching for treasures to fill our booths and painting day and night. We were chasing our dreams!

A STORE is born!

One day, over lunch at the coffee house, Amy suggested that for all we were spending on booth spaces and storage units, we could afford to open our own STORE! Let me just say, having owned a store 25 years ago, I did NOT want a store. But, after considering Amy's proposal, I decided, "what the heck, let's do it!" And Farm Chicks Vintage was born.

Busting out at the seams!

In January of 2019 we had completely run out of room in our little store and were presented with the opportunity to take over a larger space down the street. Knowing that we wanted to be able to give classes and the new space had a huge work area that we desperately needed, we made the decision to move our little enterprise to it's present location at 41 N Congress Street in Downtown York, SC.

We could not be happier!!
